Clematis District & CityPlace

Emerging as one of Florida’s most exciting cities, Downtown West Palm Beach is defined by international dining, shopping, entertainment, and a growing residential community. Downtown West Palm Beach is anchored by two distinctive districts. The Clematis District is a uniquely flavored visitor destination that serves as the county’s government center and the city’s historic core for more than a century. CityPlace, an Italian-inspired, mixed-use project that’s home to more than 80 shops, 20 restaurants, 20-screen Muvico cinema and a 1920s church adapted to serve as a multi-purpose cultural center. Visitors can travel between both districts via a free trolley service that’s become one of Downtown’s most popular attractions.

2The historic Clematis District is the backbone of the city. It offers a creative, funky, eclectic mix of restaurants and shops, plus more than 10,000 residences, live/work lofts and luxury condominiums. Dining is an international experience where patrons may sample flavors from around the world while stores are a mix of national brands and homegrown favorites.

Downtown thrives culturally, with its vibrant neighborhood of institutions including the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Ballet Florida, Norton Museum of Art, Armory Art Center, Palm Beach Opera, the Fine Arts District, Palm Street Art Studios and Palm Beach Dramaworks.  The district also boasts The Dreyfoos School of the Arts, one of the most prestigious public arts magnet program high schools in the region.

Residents, tourists and guests enjoy a multitude of entertainment options, including the weekly street party called Clematis by Night that takes place at the historic Centennial Fountain every Thursday; and Sunday at the Meyer, where performers showcase their talents at the waterfront amphitheatre. The annual Marathon of the Palm Beaches held in December, leads participants through a 26.2 mile run along the Intracoastal, and SunFest, scheduled the first week in May, is the largest music, art and waterfront festival in Florida. The Palm Beach Boat Show in March  is one of the top 10 shows in the country and features more than $300 million worth of floating dreams! There are a myriad of other weekly music, cultural and family-friendly happenings, ensuring that Downtown is a place for everyone.
