DDA Board

The DDA Board is composed of 7 members who are appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Commission. To qualify for the appointment, prospective members must reside, have their major business, or own property in the Downtown Development District. Each member serves a three year term and may be re-appointed.

The DDA Board meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8:30am in the DDA’s Conference Room, located at 301 Clematis St., Suite 200.

The West Palm Beach DDA is very fortunate to have Roy Assad, local entrepreneur, professional advisor, motivational speaker, and executive coach, as its board chair. With nearly thirty years experience and an award winning sales career, Roy has mastered the arts of networking, negotiation and bridge-building. These skills have enhanced his effectiveness in the coaching of executives and entrepreneurs nationwide. Roy is the founder of The Human Capital Group, an executive coaching firm, as well as RBA Strategies, an insurance solutions firm that empowers employers and individuals with the right tools to make sound insurance decisions. In addition, he owns and serves as general partner in one of Downtown’s most notable and acclaimed restaurants, Leila. Roy’s unique insight into the dynamics of relationships and his desire to share this knowledge with others is the propelling force behind successful coaching and training.

Bruce Lewis is currently CEO of LB Limited, where he oversees business strategic planning, relationship development, new business development, financial responsibilities and senior-level public relations/marketing initiatives. Previous experience includes work as a Chemical Design Engineer (semiconductors) for Fortune 500 corporations including Honeywell, Digital Equipment Corporation, RCA and General Electric (GE).  Bruce also serves as a business consultant to the Palm Beach County Division of Economic Development.  Bruce is a graduate of the University of Minnesota BSEE where he specialized in Semiconductor Chemical Engineering Design.  Continuing education includes Graphic Design courses at Palm Beach Community College .  Bruce is also a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County . He is highly active throughout the community working with City and County-based organizations including the United Way of Palm Beach County ,  Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County, and the PBC Small Business Advisory Committee just to mention a few.

John Ahrenholz has spent more than 28 years working downtown financing properties as an executive with Fidelity Federal, which is now, National City. As a volunteer, John dedicates his time and efforts to such organizations as the City Center Partnership, where he serves as a Board Member, and The Community Financing Consortium, an 11 member bank, non-profit organization, which caters to affordable housing needs of low to middle income people in Palm Beach, Broward and Martin Counties.

A long-time resident of West Palm Beach, Amelia Ostroski is a retired 30 year educator in Palm Beach County and a former Director of the Armory Art Center, a non-for-profit community-based visual arts education and exhibition center . Presently, she is a third party consultant with an educational publishing company and is also a consultant with the Port St. Lucie School District. Ms. Ostroski currently serves on the Board of Kidsanctuary and Downtown Helping Hands Foundation.

Rob Samuels is also an accomplished business owner and successful entrepreneur. As partner in a series of jewelry stores across South Florida, Rob operates Provident Jewelry with locations in West Palm Beach   (331 Clematis Street), Naples and Jupiter, as well as Palm Beach Jewelry & Antique Show also based in West Palm Beach and a 2nd antique shoe in Baltimore, MD.  Rob is married and has an eight year old daughter.  He holds a Bachelor of Science/Business Management from the University of Florida and a graduate degree in Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America.

Originally from Washington, D.C., the Korean War Veteran and real estate company owner, Ken Druskin has been a Florida resident at Trump Plaza for the last 16 years. Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Druskin was a senior vice-president for 15 years at the commercial and leasing investment company, Julian J. Studley Co. In Washington, Mr. Druskin served on the Mayor’s economic development committee. Since moving to Florida Mr. Druskin previously served as a Board Member for the Downtown Development Authority and currently continues as a Board Member for Foundcare, who’s mission it is to develop a medical facility that will serve the uninsured and underinsured community of Palm beach County.

President of Pioneer Linens since the 1930’s, George Greenberg has nourished his family business that was established in 1912. Pioneer linens specializes in quality linens and has retained its place of importance in the community and continues to grow and develop with its customer’s needs and tastes. He is a former DDA Board Member and currently an Honorary Board Member.
